Field Trip

Our field trip to Castle Park is tomorrow. We will leave school at 9:30am in the morning and return at 4:45pm.  Please be at school on time and use the restroom before the bell rings. Anything you bring on the trip (jacket, money, small purse) will be your responsibility.  Make sure that someone is here at the school to pick you up around 4:30.  We may get back early depending on traffic.

BARF Reports

All students received a BARF log today and have selected a book to read in their reading level to complete their projects.  All BARF projects will be due by Tuesday, June 2nd (NO EXCEPTIONS, if your child will be absent the assignment is still due).  If students have a question about the reading or project they must come and talk to me, I will not check up on them.  PARENTS, you need to sign the BARF log each week for their reading.  If it is not signed they will not receive full credit.  Below are copies of the BARF log, front and back.

State Testing is Here!

Our class will begin state testing next week.  This year all state testing will be done online.  In class we will begin with a practice test so students can get familiar with the format of the online assessment.  I hope you all logged on and took the practice test on the CAASPP website while we were off for break.  Please feel free to look at them now if you didn't get a chance.

Off-Track Assignment

Yesterday your scholar brought home an assignment that is due when we return.  They need to create a Facebook page and posts from one of our main characters in Buried Alive!  They may choose during the time underground or just after being rescued.  I added the documentary about a week ago here on the blog.

We have now finished the book and watched the documentary below as well as the 60 Minutes After the Fact Special.  You will need to use these to complete your off track homework assignment.  I will send the assignment home next Wednesday.

TECH NIGHT!

Come out tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, for our first Technology in Education Night.  You can choose between 5 rooms, each with a different topic, to go to for a 30 minute session.  There will be 3 sessions; 5:00 pm, 5:30 pm, and 6:00 pm.  Anyone in our class that comes will get a Soaring Eagle ticket.  They have the option of turning the ticket into the cafeteria for their drawing or turning it into me for a treat or tickets.  Come use our iPads and Chromebooks.

6th Grade Contracts


Today all sixth grade scholars brought home their sixth grade contracts.  To be eligible for our sixth grade trip, your contract must be turned in by February 20, 2015. Any scholar turning in their contract Tuesday will earn 3 tickets, Wednesday 2 tickets, and Thursday 1 ticket. All contracts must be signed by the scholar and guardian.

Think Different and Valentine Exchange

Science Fair Tonight!
